While geodesists is a real profession (https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/geodesist.html), I would expect that offices outside of national GIS departments to be very very very rare. Spot checking what is tagged as such currently would indicate that these are all mis-tagged surveyors.

I wonder if this tag sprung up during the time period that the office=surveyor documentation got quietly changed to describe a pollster (who also conducts surveys) rather than surveyors.
