i got the too many nodes warning while i was doing a lot of edits and i created a way with too many nodes or added too many nodes to a way. when i went to submit the changes i got a server a error telling me i have too many nodes. trying to look around for the way i got in a state where the submit button was greyed out and i could no longer submit my changes. this caused me to lose a lot of changes when i refreshed the page.
iD should check that the maximum number of nodes isn't exceeded. i'm surprised it doesn't already? did i just not see a warning? it should prevent me from submitting changes that aren't going to be accepted...
this server error should not lead to the page breaking and data loss
iD should make it easy to find the way with too many nodes. i don't want to go searching through every way in my edit.
