On an Ubuntu 18.04 system I ran into errors at the part of installing patroni:

Finished installing PostgreSQL.
Synchronizing state of postgresql.service with SysV service script with /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install.
Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install disable postgresql

Command "python setup.py egg_info" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-ntghgy/patroni/

I was able to solve this by running pip install wheel
but another run of the setup resulted in an even bigger error:

I was able to resolve this one with apt install python-dev
just wanted to mention this as some dependencies seem to be missing from the setup scripts
