Currently, OpenMapTiles prefers OSM over Wikidata if the local name variant is filled in - e.g. if there is a name:es filled in, it will be used for Spanish translation.
However, as @pnorman pointed out, in case there is only a name tag filled in and the object is located in Spain, the name:es tag is taken from Wikidata (even though we have a Spanish name in this case).
Example:
