Use of external cameras with QField Windows #4854

Describe the issue

I wonder if it is possible to use an external camera (like DSLR from Canon, Nikon, Sony etc.) with QField Windows. By installing software like 'Canon EOS Webcam Utility Software' (https://www.canon.de/cameras/eos-webcam-utility/) or similar tools from other companies it is possible to use DSLR cameras for services like Zoom, WebEx or the native Windows camera app. But I could not get it working in QField for Windows.

Reproduction steps

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Webam Utilty software installed
  2. Connect the camera with USB-C to the computer (controlled functionality in the Windows camera app)
  3. Deactive all other cameras in the device manager, so there is only the external camera recognized in Windows
  4. Open QField Windows
  5. By opening the photo widget I only see a black screen and the buttons to take a photo etc.

Expected behavior

Passing through the live image from the camera and the possibility to take pictures with that camera within QField

Observed behavior

No live image, nothing happens by clicking on the trigger button

@berniefritsch , thanks Bernhard. I think this will be something worth highlighting upstream. The problem is either with the windows drive or Qt.
