I believe it's a good idea to get the SWE relevant working groups together (SensorThings, EDR, Moving Features, Connected Systems), and we can author (or attempt to author) a document as a guide to choose the right OGC standards for building your sensors/IoT/observations applications.

Such document will also serve as a guideline for Connected Systems and future new standards when they are developing their standard and avoid overlaps.
