Now that the vaccination campaigns are underway, should the data in this project also include vaccination data?

Hi there, yes, it should. The Open Data units of the Canton of Basel-Stadt and Canton of Zurich are in contact with their respective Health Departments. And we‘ve reached out to our FOPH colleagues regarding the matter, too. Keep you posted.

This would be extremely helpful indeed. Thanks @amslera and everyone else for the efforts here. If help is needed, happy to join.

One extra relevant data point here next to the numbers could be current/assumed capacities of Impfzentren and Mobile Teams.

So reportedly the FOPH will release weekly data starting tomorrow monday ... we will see if that data is in good quality or another effort to scrape it directly is needed...

Thanks for offering your help and pointing out to the FOPH vaccination data, which is announced to be published today.

AFAIK, most Cantons are using a system provided by FOPH to administrate their vaccination campaigns. If the data, which Cantons are/will be communicating, are administrated in that system (mostly), we want to make that clear from the beginning. And, in that case, the FOPH data will likely be more complete and congruent from the beginning, too.

We're checking today's publication, and will share our learnings here. Looking forward to yours' too.

Update: Health Department officials of the Canton of Zurich informed at today's press conference (https://twitter.com/KantonZuerich/status/1348582922337574914?s=20) that they aim for publishing (likely: weekly) data updates over the course of the coming weeks. No startdate was mentioned yet.

No sign of vaccination-data in todays FOPH data-publication despite their announcement.

Not as extensive with age groups etc. but similar in Germany daily ongoing updates as reported by the states Impfzentren/Mobile Teams: https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Daten/Impfquoten-Tab.html, my initial scraping and archiving of (unfortunately) daily rewritten excel sheet: https://github.com/n0rdlicht/rki-vaccination-scraper

Not surprising imho; it was the same with other variables such as quarantine/isolation.

A common data source will probably only be published when the majority of cantons report.

Cantons implement their vaccination campaigns differently; this will have to be taken into account when comparing the figures.

FYI: We are going to discuss and decide on Tuesday afternoon (2021-01-19, ~4 pm), if and how to move this further regarding data variables and values communicated by Cantons.

Current status of respective pull request: #1574 (comment)

I think all should be fine except JU, where the data seems to be weekly only. So we would need to calculate the total numbers on our side...

VS added the received number of vaccines in https://www.vs.ch/documents/6756452/7008787/2021%2001%2018%20-%20Sit%20Epid%20-%20%C3%89tat%20Stand
Maybe they will provide more data in the next days...

Hi there, we had our retrospective/planning meeting this afternoon. Regarding vaccination campaign data we decided:

  • We will start an official data source as a stop-gap measure. Not immediately, but latest by next Tuesday, 2021-01-26.
  • Content: It covers those variables which most Cantons are communicating on their websites in structured form.
  • Structure: We follow the example of the testing campaign data (s. https://github.com/openZH/covid_19/tree/master/fallzahlen_tests), probably with one combined data file (CSV) additionally.
  • We will deprecate this data source after there is a combined data source available by the BAG in collaboration with its cantonal partner organisations. We will announce the transition in advance, to allow for a planned switch to the BAG source.

We are doing this, since we feel the vital need for it by the public; and not for any other (counter-constructive) reasons. For us this is much easier than for our BAG colleagues. We indeed expect the BAG to publish more valuable data about the vaccination campaign than the data which some Cantons have made available up to now.

Update:

  • We have not been able to find published data on the cantonal vaccination campaigns that would offer substantially more value than those published by FOPH since last Friday.
  • We are therefore not launching the announced source of data published by the cantons.

Thank you for your attention and your ongoing efforts.

in case someone is interested, I've created this repo containing the publicly available cantonal data (automatically scraped). It's based on #1574 and should contain most of the mentioned cantons.

GE: In https://www.ge.ch/se-faire-vacciner-contre-covid-19/vaccination-chiffres there is a change of the data structure. There is an additional table for the 2nd vaccination, no cumulated data published.

Update regarding vaccination campaign data: we could take note of a table of variables, which officials have agreed on. Variables are - in our opinion - clearly understandable, and appropriate to express progress or lack of progress of the campaigns. We‘re clarifying data diffusion and will inform you ASAP about variables and publication start/frequency. It will not start before mid-February according to our - informal info. Thanks for taking note, and not spreading this any further for the moment.

Update: README of Vaccination campaign (ZH) metadata: https://github.com/openZH/covid_19/tree/master#canton-zurich-vaccination-campaign

Current status:

  • Fieldnames tbc. are not definitive
  • Descriptions tbc. still contain unanswered questions / uncertainties (that we may only be able to answer conclusively once we see the actual data)

If you‘d like to share feedback with us / ask questions, please write a comment in here: #1663

Many thanks, best aa

Foph data on vaccination is available now (unfortunately no nice api). Built a (bit hacky) scraper (https://github.com/doerfli/foph-covid19-scraper) which pushes data as csv to https://github.com/doerfli/foph-covid19-data

Hey @amslera
We are considering, archiving this repo, because there is no activity anymore and it seems, there will be no activity in the future 🤞. Otherwise it can be unarchived if necessary.
Therefore we're checking all open issues. What about this one? Is it still important or can you either close this one as completed or close as not planned? Thank you!

Hi @adrupp, I don't have the rights to close it myself. Can you close it as 'completed'? Thank you.
