Here it is reported that the <b>bold</b> tag doesn't actually cause text to become bold on Mac OS, and this does not appear to be related to the font. This appears to only affect Mac OS.

I'm facing the same issue. Bold is correctly working on my IPhone 12, but not working on my Mac.

Thanks for reporting this. It's on the radar, but I since I suspect it's due to the Pixi.JS text generation there's not much that can be done.

Does boldface work in form items? (That uses the standard browser text generation.)

I have to tell you that I'm not satisfied from both renderings, because on Mac (Chrome), I can't see bold, instead on IPhone (Chrome), I see it even too much, like it's a sort of double bold! I see a good rendering on Mac, using Safari browser, but still a bit a "soft bold". On IPhone through Safari, I see even a good rendering, but still a bit a "double bold. I don't know which one is "correct". Can you reformulate your closing question? I'm sorry for not underastanding but I'm kind of new to this world :)

I was mainly curious as to whether there is any difference at all between bold and non-bold text when using forms on Mac OS. And apparently there is. The exact rendering is handled by the browser/ operating system, so that can indeed vary a bit.

(And while re-reading the original issue, I realize that different rendering issues are conflated here, because the original issue was not about OSWeb, but rather OpenSesame on the desktop, which uses yet another font-rendering technique. The main message, I suppose, is that font rendering isn't always perfect on Mac OS.)

Ok, I understand now. Thank you.
