It would be great if Omnivore supports adding local files of any types.
This feature would be split between:

  • supported types:
    • as I understood currently it only supports pdf, but I don't get why it doesn't support format like txt or md that are wayyy easier to parse than pdf
  • unsupported types
    • in this case, simply provide a file-like icon that opens the file with the current associated app ('''open''' command in linux) along with the notes

Also it should support adding notes without any attachment, just a note, no url, no file, no feed, ...

This IMHO are quite simple features but would allow a lot of user to ditch their current PKM solution.

I just want to clarify that my feature suggestions are intended to spark a collaborative discussion, not just to request others to take action (in case it came across differently). Issues are a great place not only for developers but also for users to discuss improvements, refine ideas, and explore what might work or not.

When I find the time, if these features haven't yet been implemented, I plan to work on them myself, taking advantage of any feedback that has been shared here, and propose a PR.

Anyway, thank you for maintaining this awesome project !
