The GODI team does not have immediate contact with government data providers.

This has been obvious in our outreach (mainly reaching out to government by proxy - using OGP or the OD Charter to repost/retweet).

During our public dialogue we received following feedback to improve

One of the purposes of GODI is to encourage improvement in open data which is also our objective.

It should be a priority that the relevant bodies who provide the data being assessed know that this process has taken place. Otherwise there is a big dependence on third parties highlight it to them. E.g. Met Offices or other agencies might be unaware of GODI and our assessment (as in the case of the UK).

Solution
A process to let relevant bodies know they have been assessed. We raise any issues directly to their attention. It would help draw them into contact with the user community. If any pressure for improvement does need to be exerted the more direct it is upon the relevant organisations the more chance there will be of making a change.
