For instance, add a proper description:

For projects I'm setting these tags based on the subtitle: param.
Would you rather have a dedicated param-key for meta-description tags?

I should have been more specific. I was primarily concerned with the index page / content pages.

If you share https://okfn.de on Slack or Twitter, it looks like this:

So maybe:

title: Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland
description: Offenes Wissen für die digitale Zivilgesellschaft

or description: Wir setzen uns für offenes Wissen und demokratische Teilhabe ein. Dafür entwickeln wir Technologien und Instrumente und stärken so die Zivilgesellschaft.

And og:image should be an absolute URL or it wont work in some cases, i.e., Twitter.
