Whether it be access to Unblock or other features, the ability to limit clients to an authenticated set can be very handy for many folks.

Desirables:

Database agnostic authentication (find some nodejs library that can handle many different databases and give sysadmins flexibility in how the authentication/lookup of clients of is done).
