Please check that this issue hasn't been reported before.

  • I searched previous Bug Reports didn't find any similar reports.

Expected Behavior

When a task shows the source file link, this link should behave as any other link - being able to drag and drop the link to open in a new tab for instance. This used to be the case some versions ago.

Current behaviour

Not, attempting to drag and drop a tasks source file link just selects the text.

Steps to reproduce

Make a task query, hold left mouse button on source file link, attempt to drag and drop to open in new tab.

Which Operating Systems are you using?

  • Windows

Obsidian Version

Tasks Plugin Version

Checks

  • I have tried it with all other plugins disabled and the error still occurs

I think you are probably referring to what Tasks calls backlinks - is that correct?

If so, I expect that the behaviour changed when backlinks were changed to jump to the actual task line instead of only to the preceding heading - and that fix was released in Tasks 3.4.0 which was released as long ago as April 2023.

And if so, the comments and workarounds described in the following will also be helpful here:

being able to drag and drop the link to open in a new tab for instance

The docs section Using backlinks for navigation shows ways to control how the linked file is opened.

April 2023, eh? 😅 Time flies when amazing updates keep being made to the Tasks plugin. I'll just use the click-to-open-in-a-new-tab option and then just move the tab around. Thank you!!
