Pale (almost unreadable) fonts and white background on Emacs 29 (29.0.60)? #117

With Emacs version 29.0.60 the background is white but most of the fonts are pale and almost unreadable.

I am using the 'Pure GTK' edition of Emacs running on Wayland.
