How do I show/hide columns in an active grid? #2006

Summary
When using the API to build a grid, I can mark some columns as hidden. Once the grid is displayed, how do I show / hide columns?

Does the grid have a modal for listing the columns and enabling them to be shown/hidden?

Or should I write my own modal for showing/hiding columns?

default modal not built-in
usage is user create show hide active modal
