show defaults for new reports in sidebar

enhancement idea for new reports, like recentlyaddeddevices

i really love the new reports, but it took me a bit to figure out how to use a custom period. most date sidebar fields have a date selector if you click on them. so, try & alter the period for recentyaddeddevices i tried using that format but got an error.
having a look at the code it turns out the default is "2 months" , so using 12 months in the sidebar worked fine.

perhaps we can make this more userfriendly by having the default be shown in the sidebar fields?

and if we're at it perhaps somehow make the default not hardcoded?

also no idea if it can be done for all reports.
