The problem occurs when you want to use the music viewer with Mopidy as the MPD provider instead of the native FIFO output provider in MPD. Mopidy does not allow more than one output, and bifurcating the output with GStreamer is a pain in the head. And things like cli-visualizer are useful (cli-visualizer listens to Pulseaudio output, so it works). But it would be great if this tool were integrated with the client.
