It would smooth my workflow if the tools menu in the Edit Entry dialog had a Download favicon option.

Even better would be a button next to the icon selector

Perhaps better would be an automatic update when the URL is entered or changed

What's the point? You know you can download favicons in batch (for multiple selected entries) and for whole groups at once, right?

Because you create them one at at time. If the favicon can't be downloaded then you're still in the right place to quickly find another appropriate icon.

Just because it starts out as the website/application icon doesn't mean it has to stay up to date. In fact I pretty much never want the icon to change. In that way I learn to recognise it. Why would you update whole groups at a time?

Do you know any plugin that does this?
I'm not even sure if that is possible.

What I like is that the icon downloading would be more inside the workflow of creating a new site entry...say as a button next to the URL field, or even better, as an auto-download when an entry with a new URL is closed (OK'd) or saved.

Of course the right-clicking works (and can work for multiple entries/group if you save up entries that need it and do them in batches, I suppose). But it is outside of the window with every other entry creation/editing function. Say I create an entry with several possible URLs...I need to OK/save, right-click download favicon to see what I get...if I don't like or doesn't exist, must re-open the site entry to edit the icon and/or edit the URL, then close again to retrieve. Is good to be able to do from entry list, but not ideal as only option.

I get that, and I understand the appeal of having alternative workflow options here, even without actually saving time, but as @navossoc said, maybe it is not even possible for plugins to modify the already existing controls of the Edit Entry dialog.

I have a database that is rather large. I do add things to it from time to time, and remove old / obsolete items as well, and this idea is a rather nice one for when I add new entries.

However, I also make massive use of folders and assign the folders default icons that get inherited by any item that I create inside any particular folder, so it's not anywhere near a big deal for me - I've gotten used to doing it from outside the edit entry dialog now that it's not a problem - especially since @navossoc has enabled the Default Letter F to easily enable favicon search after a right click on any entry / set of entries (Thanks again for that, BTW!)

IIRC, I do think there are a few other addons that do / are able to manipulate the edit entry dialog, that could be referenced if this enhancement is not dropped.
