I have various AudioPro speakers on linkplay 4.6.x firmware and have been having lots of issues with stability, groups, you name it.
Using the router mode makes HomeAssistant work a bit better but is can get reverted to WifiDirect mode by the app and overall the setup is unresponsive lots of times.
Today I played around with the RouterMultiroomEnable command from HA and in a scripted "reset_and_rebuild_group" function, I pushed the RouterMultiroomEnable command to ALL speakers. (previously I did it only to the master, with no effect)
VOILA!!!
Seems this command sets Router mode as default in the speakers, and now even the app sets up speaker groups in Router mode(!!!)
And everything is just sooo much more responsive! Even when using the app.
Key was to set ALL speakers to router mode, after factory reset one of them, system is back to sluggish. Makes sense when you think on it
