I am connected to Universe running under HP-UX. Attached is the configuration file I'm using.

The connection is established correctly, and some type 1 files appear that are defined in the account, but not all.

If I expand the APP.PROGS folder (see attached image), I can see all its contents, as well as the SYS.TERMINALS folder.

But if I try to see the content of PGM.DESA (file created by me), the following message appears:
"Unable to resolve non-existing file 'RestFS:/PGM.DESA'".
The same happens with PGM.TEST. (see image ErrorVSCode.png)
I think there might be some misconfigured parameter.

Any help?
Thank you.

Hi @osvaldokian59 this looks like you're using the MV Gateway connector, is that correct?

Would you be able to try using AccuTerm as an alternative? MV Basic supports both options as well as local use, plus the Microsoft Remote SSH extension, as other alternatives.

Hi @itsxallwater
You're right. I am using MV Gateway connector and the connection is thru a VPN, that is, the server is in other location, not my home.

But I have not a license of AccuTerm. It's not an alternative for us.
I am testing this tool for my development team (~12 people) and the purchase of licenses is not an option so far.

I didn't know about Microsoft Remote SSH extension, but I'm willing to test it.
Would you please provide me an example of the connection parameters needed to connect to Universe?

My intention is to begin with this configuration and in a second phase, create an development environment using SFTP, GIT, VS Code and MV Basic extension.
Any other help or suggestion will be welcomed.

Thank you

Regards,
Osvaldo

Hey @osvaldokian59! The remote ssh extension should walk you through everything when you install it. Microsoft has good documentation too. If you can ssh to your server, you can use the same credentials with the extension. It initializes an ssh connection to the destination just like any other ssh client and, essentially, mounts that remote file system inside your VS Code instance. It's pretty clever.

If you want to continue with the MV Gateway connector we may need an assist here from @dthiot or @GrantHart. That connector is technically a separate thing from the core MV Basic extension.

The Linkar server would be an option too but if you're unable to add a few licenses for AccuTerm I suspect you may have the same limitation there as it is another paid product.

Hi @itsxallwater
Thank you for your response (on Sunday!)
I will try to connect with the ssh extension. So, I think it's not necessary to ask @ dthot or @ GrantHat for help. By now.

Linkar server it's an option, because is a paid product, but low fees. We can't use it because our server is running HP-UX and Linkar runs on Linux, not Unix. Maybe in a near future, when migrate to Linux, we'll test Linkar.

Thank you, again.
I'll be in touch to comment you how I'm going with SSH.

Regards.
Osvaldo

Hi @itsxallwater
Unfortunately, the SSH option doesn't work for me. The reason is that the MS SSH extension doesn't connect to a Unix server, and this is my case.

So, as you suggest, may I ask @dthiot or @GrantHart for help on the error I'm getting with MV Gateway?
Should I open a new issue?

Thank you.
Regards.
Osvaldo.

No you need not open a new issue, if they can provide any assistance they'll comment back in this thread.

Any plans to migrate away from HP UX? Just curious.

Hi, Mike.
Yes, we'll migrate to Linux, but the company has not defined the schedule yet.

Thank you for your help.

Osvaldo

@osvaldokian59https://github.com/osvaldokian59, this is @dthiothttps://github.com/dthiot. I will have to look at MVGateway to see why it is causing a problem. Give me a day or two to review.
