This issue is for discussing what lower-impact Tcl 8.7 features would be nice (and possible) to have in Jim Tcl. Ashok P. Nadkarni's "Introducing Tcl 8.7" post series has an overview of Tcl 8.7's new features.
The candidates I can think of are:
regsub -command
. Useful for complex substitutions.lpop
,lremove
. These are handy albeit easily implemented in script.lsearch -stride
and Tcl 8.6'slsort -stride
. I've had to emulatelsort -stride
when porting Tcl 8 code to Jim.::tcl::process
. TIP 462 standardizes something like Jim's ownwait
