On a side note, I am able to log in as an administrator via the web interface (it's the same test user as above), but attempting to access webmail results in the same dovecot error as above. |

Digging into things this morning, I found that the modoboa bits managed by supervisor were having issues. The main one was that the reinstall had changed the path to python (the part that had been |

Upgrading the OS implies that python version will be upgraded too and that virtualenv used by Modoboa needs to be recreated: |

Okay, this is an error I hadn't noticed before, but perhaps it can point to (at least part of) the problem:

I've looked around here, but I can't see other problems that match what I'm encountering. Mail servers are not my strong suit.
Earlier today, I upgraded Debian and Modoboa. I followed the guide carefully, but after the upgrade, nothing worked and 500 errors were showing up on the web side. However, I was able to follow the instructions related to a failed upgrade, and most things seem to be working now. (Thank you so much to whoever put those together!) However, now authentication consistently fails. An attempt to send a message via SMTP looks like this in the log:

I'm not sure if the problem the problem is perhaps related to changes in default behaviors of the new software versions vs. the old ones. Is there something that I missed when I upgraded? I didn't check to see if there were versions between what I was running and the latest version, though I don't know if that makes a difference. I'd be happy to provide additional information, but I'm not sure what would be useful.
Note that I have tried editing the password of a user to see if that fixed things, but it made no difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
