Hipcheck is slow to build today, and we can and must do better. This general goal of "drive down build times" impacts many things we care about in the Hipcheck project, including:

  • CI times for feedback on changes
  • CI times for generating new artifacts to distribute
  • Build times for Hipcheck contributors in the edit-build-run/test cycle
  • Build times for potential users of Hipcheck who want to build from source

Moving faster on Hipcheck's builds, both in the "from-fresh" and incremental cases, impacts Hipcheck's ability to iterate and deliver value.

We'll want to likely set up some CI mechanism to catch / track build times.
