When sharing an article, it would be nice if details about the article were immediately visible. Adding some meta tags (the Open Graph protocol) would accomplish this.

You want this for shared articles, right?

Yes, for shared articles so embeds are generated for discord, twitter, etc.

The open graph protocol is designed to get nice preview of web pages. This requires to expose an image that represents the web page, this is not always the case for (shared) articles, sometimes there is one or more in the article attachments but most of the time this does not exist.
I don't think a default image is a good idea...
