Issue Type: Bug

The issue I face is that I downloaded an ipynb file. Once I opened the file, I immediately click 'save as' to save the file on my desktop. I closed the file and open the file again on my desktop to ensure I was working on the right file. After all my work was done, I click the 'save' button and close the file, vs code didn't ask me to save the file before closing so I think that the file was saved successfully. When I opened the file again, the code could be viewed on my own computer but if I uploaded the file to others, the changes that I made would not appear. I would like to ask how to solve the issue and what is the possible reason causing this issue.

As the file is for my final exam, so it would be great if I could figure out the reason causing the bug so I can explain it to my course instructor.
