Please kindly add support for using pytorch wildlife platform for bio-acoustics to analyses audio recordings of insects, birds and animals including sounds that are inaudible to human ears.

Having a single code base to analysis both optical camera trap images and also spectrograms would help us gain more traction and drive adoption from contributors working multiple disciples.

Use case

Citibats cambodia project volunteers are gathering large database of bat recordings on iNaturatlist platform. The Pytorch wildlife platform codebase is used to analysis of large amount of bat calls and try to aid researchers in identifying bat diversity is largely understudied and fast disappearing ecosystems.

Hello @arky, thank you very much for bringing this up! We do want to add bioacoustics support to Pytorch-Wildlife but currently do not have a clear timeline on this addition. If you or other people would like to contribute to this new feature, it would also be greatly appreciated! Thank you again!

Thank you @zhmiao I have filed this issue to highlight the need for such support in this project and with the hope that one of the community member would take up the task.
