Incompatible Versions

Hi!

First of all, thank you for this project. I've been using it for several years now and your efforts are much appreciated!

Sorry for the (probably dumb) question, but for over a week I get an "Incompatible Version" error, and freshly pulling the image doesn't help. Since I haven't found any other people with this problem I wonder if I'm missing something or doing something wrong. Any help to point me into the right direction would be much appreciated!

And sorry if this sounds pushy, if you simply need time to update, that's totally understandable. I just thought I'll ask for help in case the mistake is on my side.

I had that happen to me a few times and whenever Steam pushes out updates it takes a few times of running/stopping the container to get it to update fully.

Run docker compose not detached so you can see everything and make sure you see that it’s pulling Steam updates. I had to start/stop 3x on the last update to stop seeing the Steam updates.

Sometimes the server version also gets pushed later than the client version. Ive run into this with my server,

If yall have auto upgrades on, when the server version becomes available it should readily upgrade the server.

Yep, I had that on but then it would break mods or would get people asking what happened, I can’t login, etc.

So now I just coordinate it with everyone and they have the Steam auto update turned off, too. We check all the mods have been updated and stuff sorted out.

Of course if you run Vanilla, auto functions are great!

It's been a while and I have occasionally tried to start, stop and pull the image, but so far no success. It still says the same message: VERSION check their:0.217.31 mine:0.211.7
I have also tried to remove the images and containers to make sure there was nothing cached in the background. Auto Updates are turned on and if I run docker image inspect [image] I get this, which seems to be the latest image: "org.opencontainers.image.version": "2.3.2"

I really have no idea what's going on because it has been working fine for me for years. If anyone has a similar issue or any idea to fix it I would be grateful for any kind of solution.

@linuxbirdie it looks like your sever is out of date! can you exec into the container and run odin update?

docker exec container_name gosu steam bash

then type

odin update

EDIT: Thanks again for pointing into the right direction! Somehow, odin install worked but not odin update.
I am not exactly sure what steps I did, but after trying odin update for a few times (with and witout root), at some point I got the error that odin was not installed anymore at all, and it suggested I should run odin install.
I did that and it works (odin update still doesn't work for whatever reason, but since it was a fresh install it's up to date now)

This looks like a bug, maybe they updated the update api for app info. I can take a look at this, for now restart your server with force install.
