Thank you for taking part in this open source project to empower the upcoming 360 creators!
In order to collaborate in an organized space, we decided to use github as its features (when you get confortable with it) are amazing!

  • LATEX/GITHUB. Watch this video to get setup on a Mac environment. Windows coming soon. Try not to use links in the book but reference the author/content title. Refer names like in other chapters (AVP instead of Autopano Video, GoPro instead of gopro, AE instead of After Effects, HERO4 instead of Hero 4,...). To insert new illustrations, check out the psd-ai folder, edit then copy the vectors to photoshop, save as png and use same code to insert images as other chapters (for example \imgA{1}{41/markers}).
  • ISSUES have labels and assignments. Most issues will either be related to a chapter under the Shooting or Stitching parts of making360. If an issue is left unassigned, you are welcome to assign it to yourself and others will be able to see you are working on it!
  • PULL REQUESTS. When you are ready to commit your edits, you will create what is called a Pull request. This request will be sent to all the contributors with privileged access @making360/m360, and your changes may be discussed, integrated or declined.
  • MILESTONES will be used to group all the issues needed to be completed/fixed before the next release of the book. A release is like an approved version of the making360 guide, which anyone can self-print (Blurb, Lulu). 360 softwares and gear is evolving fast, we then hope to have a monthly release for everyone to stay up to date.
  • HIPCHAT ROOM. This chat room has been setup to ask specific questions related to the book as well as ongoing technical support between creators on-the-go or at home. If some of us are online and have the answer to someone's problem, we should help them solve it. If the problem is coming up multiple times, it will make sense to add it as a chapter to our open source book. We invite you to suggest new chapters using the ISSUES.
  • MAKING360.com Our site will soon be updated and turned into a more communal site including reviews on gear, resources for producers, checklists, spreadsheets, budget estimates, case studies... as well as gigs for everyone to list or pick!!! We would like to link your personal blogs and feed the making360 website with your posts.

Excited to see how well we will collaborate together, and for starters, would you be kind to introduce yourself here by commenting with your name, company, and what exciting project you are currently working on!

Hi. My name is Andrew Hazelden. I'm a visual effects artist / trainer at Dover Studios. I'm also an active blogger and I spend quite a bit of time developing workflow tools for creating pre-rendered and live action immersive 360° media.

My current area of focus is on creating better tools and techniques for 360° previz, and rendering seamless live action + CGI scene integration visual effects in panoramic video.

Jason Fletcher checking in! I'm currently a Science Visualizer at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, Museum of Science. I'm the author of thefulldomeblog.com where I aim to share how we create immersive fulldome films. I've used 360 video to capture NASA's Goddard Space Flight Facility. I hope to share much of what I've learned and add my 2 cents here.

Hi. I'm Fabien Soudiere. I have been helping build the 360 video workflow of on the the major VR companies out there. And I decided to share my knowledge with other video creators to build a community and create more 360 content. I also make music on the side and I used to be a magician/dancer for 10 years. I'm still making magic with 360 now lol!

Hello! I am Alex Pearce. In 2014, I switched my small production company to focus 100% on 360 video production. I am developing a 360 travel show to Israel and we'll be going back in a few months to film season 2. I also do a lot of freelance work, some b2b shooting, stitching and consulting. Clients include The Ad Council, Jaunt, 360 Heros and Heart of Silicon Valley. I live on a sailboat with my wife and 4 month old baby in Sausalito, and we also have a boat in Marina Del Rey and I travel back and forth depending on what gigs are happening. Excited to be apart of this and I love what you guys and gal have already done!
