Issues escaping snippet syntax in custom Plugin

Hello,

I am attempting to use the following custom plugin

IfSel(data,default,alternative)
{ ; [[IfSel("[[selected]]","**[[selected]]**^|","**^|**")]]
	; Function checks if "data" exists or if it is empty, and returns a predefined string depending on that. In the example above, 
	; 1. the str "data" is surrounded by "**" and the cursor is placed after the last "*" - IF [[selected]] contains something
	; 2. the cursor is placed, surrounded by "**" on both sides - IF [[selected]] contains nothing
	if data
		return default
	else
		return alternative
}

to perform actions depending on whether or not text is contained in [[Selected]] or not. I am now attempting to get the following behaviour to work:

• If something is selected, output markdown link syntax [%SelectionHere%](^|)
• If nothing is selected → [^|]()

Currently I use two different snippets with two different hotkeys for that, but that is obviously not great if you're slowly running out of hotkeys to assign.

The problem is, I apparently cannot get the escape to work properly:

[[IfSel("[[selected]]","<SB[[selected]]>SB(^|)","[^|]([[selected]])"]]
And hence I am... simply stuck.

What I am doing wrong?

Thank you very much. It works, and I'll take a closer look to hopefully understand it myself.

And thank you for this amazing script, it is a legitimate life-saver having a program-agnostic expander which I can mostly tweak to my own tasks. I'll definitely have to get more practice with plugins in general :P
