Maintenance Help Needed (was: Fork...?) #159
Comments
If nothing comes up, let's make a repository with public access, and ask people to merge PRs into that one as they have availability to do so, like a wiki. |
Would it make sense to find a co-maintainer for this project? Maybe @xloem would be interested? |
Just a visitor here these days, but I think a co-maintainer for this repo is best - It's already hosted under a project-specific organization and a new repo doesn't help the fragmentation/trust issue. |
Agree with @afk11. I don't have the capacity to be a responsible maintainer for this repo anymore. Please raise your hand if you'r willing to co-maintain this repository/project. |
I'm happy to have access to this repo as a co-maintainer but I don't have the capacity to actually maintain it very much =). It is actually taxing my capacity to engage the repo maintenance at all -- I work with a lot of unmaintained repos -- which is why I propose solutions like adding @passwordisusernamebackwards (an account I made with obvious password for anybody to use) as a maintainer and inviting others to use the account to add themselves some day in the future. (Edit: sorry, disregard that, github has informed me the account was made private for security.) These are the people who have open pull requests. Would any of you be willing to maintain this repository? You'd get to merge your PR =) @pashuka @jmaldon1 @TheQuantumPhysicist @csjones @icota @hubslave @sergey-chernikov . |
@jonasschnelli I will be happy to help and have time to do so. Raising my hand. ✋ |
Maybe it's best to start with a roadmap of what needs to be done and people can pick it up. |
@jonasschnelli Are you able to share maintainership with jsarenik and me? @parazyd regarding things to do, https://github.com/jl777/libnspv appears to be the most active fork and integrating changes from one project into the other would let the two communities share work and help move towards merging them. |
@xolem: I just added you as maintainer. Thanks for bringing this project further! |
Thanks so much. We'll see how it goes; I certainly want to protect and empower this project. I notice I don't have privileges to add other maintainers: do you have thoughts on including jsarenik, who volunteered? |
@xloem I appreciate it, but take it easy. Happy to see you got access. Feel free to let me know if there is anything I can help with. All the best success @jonasschnelli and @xloem! :-) |
I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you are saying, jsarenik, but I will also need maintenance help to really get this project up to snuff unless jonasschnelli can become active again (I personally have a degenerative brain disease). @jonasschnelli if I find a third maintainer, can you add them too? In the meanwhile I am happy I can work here =) |
Also added @jsarenik as maintainer. For now, I’d like to keep the admin rights (lets see how it goes and change it later). |
Hey, I think it was @xanimo who emailed me expressing interest in this great project. I've been really struggling to engage it as the primary maintainer, I really am not having the capacity for this. Meanwhile there is a major issue where merging PRs requires tests to pass, when the service that executes the test has stopped. Not sure if this has been resolved yet. Is anyone able to add @xanimo as a maintainer? (is this okay, @xanimo, and are you the person who emailed me?) |
Hey @xloem! Yes that was me. Apologies for delay in following up with you but yes I'd be happy to help with regards to repository maintenance. Sorry to hear of your struggles and hope things get better asap. Thanks! |
It doesn't look like this repository is being maintained any more.
There are many forks. Has anyone found a good one to support, or is anyone interested in offering one for maintenance until @jonasschnelli or @libbtc update this one? We could make PRs to move any important change requests towards a new fork.
