Is it not possible to support Gitlab? Also, why does it require Github or Gitlab, can't it just work as is without them?

it is, it's just not implemented (yet)

because it the whole concept is based on labeling PRs/MRs, and without GitHub/GitLab connection we don't know which labels are applied

okay if it is possible, are there any known roadblocks that is making it take this long to support? or is it just no one has been willing to try it due to lack of interest?
