It's common for window managers to have a --replace flag to replace the currently running window manager. See xmonad, awesomewm, openbox, and others.
It's really handy for swapping between window managers without updating init/session files and restarting. Especially if you're just trying them out. Maybe even when developing two different versions of a window manager. You can see one example of it's use here in XFCE's docs about using a different window manager.
Could leftwm follow this convention of having a --replace flag too?
