When I use Lcdproc in XigmanNAS I have a strange behaviour.
I using LPT 16x2 hd44780
I wired my display compatible with hd44780 by LPT cable I tested two types of wiring
8bit "lcdtime"
winamp
On both wiring display works correctly but display each letter two times what creating strange look .
For example if display text "LCDPROC" that we have "LLCCDDPPRROOCC"
or enather example "xigmanas" is displayd as "xxiiggmmaannaass"
I checked conections and looks like that is rather an software problem than in hardware. To be certain I plan also rewiring to 4bit connection and check if we will have the same.
So after testing only 4bit connection working without problems and correct displayed characters on screen
Conclusion
4bit LPT connection working without issues
8bit LPT "LCDtime" characters displayed 2x
8bit LPT "winamp" characters displayed 2x

After mentioning this issue on XigmaNAS forum https://www.xigmanas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1129 I receive answer that they will wait on some form of checking this from side of LCDproc community because they have suspicion that ma be a driver problem for 8bit LPT connections
