How to use custom classes / string ids?

Hi,
like three days ago i wanted to use strings for ids - i just found out thats possible with yesterdays release. 😃

But i am unsure how to implement it properly:

WorkflowStub wants StoredWorkflow from Workflow namespace - if i create my own StoredWorkflow model in App\Models the fromStoredWorkflow call in WorkflowStub fails.

I create the workflow manually like this:

$workflow = StoredWorkflow::make();
$workflow->id = Str::random(24);
$workflow->class = MyWorkflow::class;
$workflow->save();
$workflow->toWorkflow()->start($someVar,$dateFrom,$dateTo);

If I don't create the Workflow manually like this WorkflowStub::make obviously fails because it uses create() which fails without auto-incrementing integer key.

May StoredWorkflow is the same as the supplied one but with these properties added:

protected $keyType = "string";
public $incrementing = false;

Any help is appreciated :)

If we leave out the string id topic, how to handle the namespace topic in the stub classes when using custom classes?

You can change the models that are used via the config file.

Yes, i understood that - but various methods in WorkflowStub only accept the original StoredWorkflow from Workflow\Models namespace. At least i experienced some errors - but i will test again tomorrow: e.g. WorkflowStub::load uses WorkflowStub::fromStoredWorkflow which in turn only allows the original StoredWorkflow as argument.

Ah it sounds like we might have to change something or create an interface.

Interface sounds like the perfect fit - probably needed for all customizable classes

    use HasUlids;
