I have a special USB keyboard and would like to repurpose it to control applications in Ubuntu.
It is recognized as a standard keyboard, and every time there is an event (key press, key release, joystick or paddle movement) it sends a string of ASCII characters: i.e. pressing the key at row 2 and column 3 sends the string [K+23]; upon release [K-23]. All strings are delimited by [ and ].
I would like to intercept each string and send instead the common Ctrl+ combinations according the application I need to control: i.e. pressing the key at row 2 and columns 3 the string [K+23] should be changed to Ctrl+S.
Is it something feasible?
If so, could you please show me how to configure [K+23] to return Ctrl+S?
