Reduce battery usage #9
Comments
Part of the reason was that we built this game in 2015, and at the time we wanted to make sure we could render fast enough (for other games). It's going at 60FPS even if there's no user input. It's completely unnecessary, but it allowed us to tell game development companies that we knew we could make Haskell fast enough because we had a game on the market that was rendering at that speed (and Yampa is taking 1-2ms/frame for more complex games, so it's really fast). Now we are about to launch other games, so this is not longer necessary. Thanks, Dmitry! |
Cool! I can see the reasoning, but android users are usually very concerned about battery life.I know this because I'm an Android developer myself. And android 8.0 has a lot of optimizations in this area, so now this kind of activity is very visible to the user in battery stats. I have 8.0 on my Nexus 5X so I immediately noticed this too :) |
You've suggested to add me as a beta tester, I'm open to that, feel free to contact me any time you need testing. Or if you use Google Play's beta testing, my email is dimsuz on gmail |
Cool. Thanks! |
Dmitry Suzdalev (@dimsuz) reports: "battery usage is quite high, stats report it as my most battery hungry app for the whole day, while I played only 14mins. Even book reader didn't score that high. You should look into this."
