XDG specifies the Secret Storage specification, which applications can interface with via libsecret and D-Bus. Currently, the only implementations of this commonly available are GNOME-Keyring and KWallet.

It would be fantastic if KBSecret could provide a platform-agnostic implementation of the standard (and as a potential benefit, it may drive up the adoption of Keybase).

Thanks for the link!

While it would be nice to improve KBSecret's interoperability with standardized desktop services, doing so would probably require a great deal of shimming/compatibility work. As such, I'd like to see such efforts continue as 3rd party/external extensions of KBSecret, rather than as part of KBSecret itself (which should remain firstly a Ruby library and basic set of CLI tools).

I'll leave this open for people to contribute ideas to, but I'm generally 👎 on this sort of tight integration into the main library.
