I have installed it with disabling SIP and initially it worked. It stopped after I restarted the computer to enable SIP again. Now in the network panel my phone is still listed but its status is "cable is disconected or the other device doesn't respond". I've tried to restart both the Mac and the phone… no change.

Does this mean I would have to keep the SIP disabled in order to use tethering? I would rather prefer to keep it working…

Can someone help me with this?

Devices: iMac 2020 with Intel Core i7 and macOS Monterey 12.6, Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G with MIUI 12.0.18

Yes, until a verified developer has signed & packaged it.
MacOS will not allow unverified extensions to run with SIP enabled.
