How to install MacOS, help

Maybe I'm too stupid, but I don't understand how to install it.
I installed carabiner, what next?

cargo install katana - done
/Applications/.Karabiner-VirtualHIDDevice-Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/Karabiner-VirtualHIDDevice-Manager activate - activated
kanata --cfg <your_configuration_file> what is configuration file?

What to do next?

upd: copied file from https://github.com/jtroo/kanata/blob/main/cfg_samples/minimal.kbd, but have this error

You need to run as root (i.e. use sudo). There are ways to avoid needing root on Linux but I'm not away of any for macOS.

I have the same issue. I already cargo installed kanata, I activated the karabiner virtual input device manager, and finally I ran sudo kanata --cfg /Users/harris/Documents/kanata.kbd and I get an error:

@jtroo FYI I am also a user of karanbiner elements, and I understand that it cannot be used simulateously with kanata. I quit karabiner elements app when I tried the following

Same happens when I run sudo kanata --cfg kanata.kbd. This also happens if the karabiner elements app is running. There was a similar issue with kmonad and karabiner conflicting.

Nevermind, I solved it by enabling input monitoring for my terminal (warp) in system settings under privacy, just as this user did for kmonad.
