Learning to be a developer has never been so easy, errrr scratch that, so difficult. While there are thousands of resources for developing (pun intended) your skills, the industry is fraught with a "good ole boy" mindset that rewards the privileged and criticizes those who are in a learning stage.

This talks focuses on how we can be better humans in design/development. It focuses on these four areas:

  • Collaboration > Competition
  • Everyone has something to share. Everyone has something to learn.
  • Celebration of growth milestones can allow agencies and companies to build a stronger team.
  • The Science of the Smile. What encouragement does for you and for those around you.

While this is not necessarily a technical talk, I feel it is crucial to the evolution of the development industry. I use personal examples of my growth stages and what I learned from various online communities as well as in real life.

A designers perspective of learning to be a developer.
