There is a space at the right of the right display that doesn't need to be there.

Aha! I found a solution! From a user perspective, put the following in ~/.zshrc, probably after sourcing oh-my-zsh.

ZLE_RPROMPT_INDENT=0

This works well for me.

@protist That doesn't work well. I recall I've tried it and if you type a long command or if you go back with backspace there are issues.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but I tried typing a long command, and the right prompt disappears when the command reaches it. It then reappears as you backspace the command away (or Ctrl+w). However, this seems like expected behaviour to me? I tried without the "fix" line my ~/.zshrc, and it exhibited the same behaviour.
