So now that jReddit lives in its own org, it'd be nice to have a profile picture - a logo.

Is anyone willing to contribute some ideas, sketches or logos?

I'm no photoshop expert but I was a little bored and gave it a try. I personally like the third version. I have the PSDs still, if you like any one and want to improve it. (the difference between the first and second is the J size)

Whoah this is awesome. Can we just use the alien and the cup part (since the images have to be square)?

And if you can post raw ps files, I can add them in a new repo for better versioning.

@raulrene are there any copyright concerns that we should be aware of?

@sfat , @karan
I don't have any concerns with the reddit font and logo, but the Java cup might be tricky. Meaning that I looked over the Java Logo Licensing at it appears that you can use it only in the presented forms if you request licensing.

Nevertheless, I doubt that they have a trademark on the cup itself. I personally consider that it will be no harm using the logo as it is. Especially that it's for non-commercial use. If you have different opinions on this let me know.

I will make a square version of the logo , without the text. Should I upload the .psd files? Also, we can set the full image (with text) on the github page https://jreddit.github.io/.

Edit: I can't upload files here. Should I add the .psd and .png files in the https://github.com/jReddit/jreddit.github.io repo that Sfat created?

I'm still concerned about using the cup in the logo, especially considering it's modified from the original one, which, according to the pdf isn't permitted.

On that note, the alien logo also requires licensing: http://www.reddit.com/wiki/licensing. Although, since the one in logo 3 is different enough, we shouldn't need to do that. Did you design that, or source it from elsewhere?

I'm replying by mail since I don't currently have access to my computer.
The alien logo was from a wallpaper I found, and was filtered on Google
images by free to use licensing. I will double check though. Damn licensing
issues, I wish I could draw. I can ask someone to, next week.

How about just this one?
jreddit_logo

Snoo leaning against the J, or sitting in it fishing for posts (if dreamworks does not go bezerk if we do this), could be an improvement?
