why is sensor/event netfn used for sdr commands?

I noticed commands like sdr or fru use the equivalent command in sensor event netfn (0x04) instead of the one in storage netfn (0x0A) to interact with the SDR repo
e.g. Get Device SDR Info Command used instead of Get SDR Info Command .

Is there a reason for this when used with LAN?
To my understanding looking at the spec, the commands in sensor event netfn are not executable via LAN since it's not a local interface.
