This source has a major focus on economic ($) and environmental (energy) savings. They used a fixed EF from EPA, which is 2.7 kg.co2/L of diesel, based on Emission Factors for Greenhouse Gas Inventories (US Environmental Protection Agency, 2021). This could give us a hint on the average EF for trains.
