This paper provides a conceptual overview of the different design decisions involved in cryptographic sortition. In collaboration with Y. and G.

added a very general description of sortition algorithms that covers all existing proposals. Moreover, it allows a clearer definition of main properties, in particular independence, local verifiability, and the capping property.
