Indicate chosen facet/filter

Problem

After selecting a facet, then entering a search string query, I get "We couldn't find any matches for X". Some selected facets disappear at this point, and cannot be individually deselected. The "clear" button is not very obvious.
(in the below example, starting from /search, select "Software" Resource Type, and then enter "test" in the search form)

Solution I Would Like

Clearly indicate what facets are selected near the top, with option to deselect/clear each facet. See example from amazon.

Alternatives I Would Consider

Higher contrast "clear" button.
