On a quick test, the jupyter-server-proxy applications seemed not to be found in the vagrantfile/VM powered distribution?
The proxy path is set via the extension setup so does this need looking at again? Things seem to work ok the docker container?
For ref, here's a possible way for getting the path (via thread): JSON.parse(document.getElementById("jupyter-config-data").text)['baseUrl'] in lab; or document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].getAttribute('data-base-url')`
