i3 has the environment with which it has been started. What that means depends on how you start i3. Generally speaking, i3 will have a different environment than interactively started shells because non-interactive shells don't source all the same things. |

I was trying to setup passmenu and at some point i wanted to bind passmenu to $mod+p ind the i3/config file.
But as i ran the keybinding, i noticed that Dmenu has nothing to select from. I tried a little bit around and found that i3 has no access to $PASSWORD_STORE_DIR. I bound the keybinding to printenv > /tmp/env to get which variables i3 can access.
for comparison i tried the same as "normal user" in my shell. Ive got those Two outputs:
env
envUser
You can clearly see some differences. I think since I3 cant "see" $PASSWORD_STORE_DIR passmenu cant generate the right output for Dmenu to show.
Can someone explain what happened here? And how to pass those Variables to I3?
Im running I3 on Arch 5.10.78-1-lt
