It would be great to get an OSS license sorted out for this project. Personally I would love to see MIT/X11. 馃槈

My vote would be MIT license for the code, some flavor of CC for the data?

CC-by-SA seems reasonable.

/cc @reneejustrenee @nickpinkston Thoughts on a data license?

Maybe throw NC on the data license to discourage people from scraping the database to spam business owners about commercial interests?

If someone wants to spam a license isn't going to stop them. NC hurts the ability for upstanding businesses to leverage the platform.

I'm definitely down for MIT on the code, and I'm firmly against adding NC to the data license because of the hurt to business. There's already ThomasNet if you want to scrape a vast list of people for spamming. What if MakeZine, etc. wanted to use the data - I don't think we should stop them or anyone else. Nearly all the people who want to start a business in the maker space have the best intentions.

Cool. I'll add MIT license to the repo. I'm not sure where or how to list the license for the data though.
