Doing this slightly in reverse, as I submitted the PR before the request, but...

Sometimes we may index the same repository at two different refs, or otherwise want to customize the name displayed on for each repository, as shown below.

PR #454 provides an implementation of this - I would be happy to adapt it based on feedback here.
